Entertainments

« THE RAU'KAW'A ENTERTAINERS The Raukawa entertainers will give an entertainment in the King's Theatre, Levin, to-morrow (Thursday) evening. The proceeds will go to Um Wounded Soldiers' Eund. This company is newly returned lrom a tour of the South Island. In writing of their performance at Invercargill, the Southland Times says :—Tlie entertainment provided by the company is one of merit, it is decidedly out of the common, and is well worthy of support. Ihe members of the company are nearly all young, and, without exception, have great musical talent. The main features, however, are the Maori fteiiis that are included in the program, and to people living in the south they are an eye-opener. The .Maori hakas are splendidly done, the warriors exhibiting all the 'typical abandon of their ■warlike, ancestors, and the time and rhythm are so perfect as to at once command admiration. Last night the audience deimanded a double "encore on each occasion the warriors appeared but .the most favoured dance was the i anions "Komate! ivomato Kouri! Kouril" Even the more successful "'ore the Maori girls in their poi dances, and on each occasion they appeared the audience became intensely interested, and finally genuinely enthusiastic.
