A goue/al meeting oi the Levin Ladav> Patriotic Committee was h«ld ii:i the Council Chambers yesterday afternoon lo consider a proposal Irom the soldiers at Waikanao to give a patriotic concert at Levin. liio Mayoress (Mrs li. li. Gardener; presided Apologies uero received from Mosdames *W. YY hi taker and u. Kingdon. Mr Goldsmith explained that the meeting was called to consider an jifor from the concert party oi the D and Li Companies of the (seventh reinforcements, now encamped at Waikanao, who sent a message to .boviu offering to give a concert at iievin, for the purpose of assisting the .Levin Lddieo' Patriotic fund. They niacle this oner out of gratitude for the Kindness with which they were received in Levin a few woeks ago. Ihe conceit party numbered about twenty performers. They would come entirely at their own expense.
