The drawing of the lottery in connection witlT the Levin special effort to raise funds for the Sick and Wounded .Soldiers Fund (Queen Carnival) will take place at the Century llall, Levin, on Wednesday night, 21st July, at 8 p.m., and the public is invited to intend' to witness the same. 'The committee will take advantage of the occasion to auction many useful articles. these being gifts for purpose of augmenting the fund. A large muster of fhe public is hoped lor.

The executive of the recent Levin Carnival still hold unclaimed two of the best prizes in connection with the rallies that were promoted on Carnival Day. They are: Raffle No. 5, solid silver soup ladle, winner No. Co 1; and naffle No. 0, case of cutlery. wTnner No. 26(3, are the two above-mentioned prizes. They may be had on application to the lion, secretary, Mr. C. S. KeojlweH. If they are not iclainied shortly they probably will be sold by public auction, in order to wind up the carnival affairs.

Referring to public reserves in this district the Mayor, last night, at the meeting of the Levin Borough Council, said that the Government should be approached -with a view to having all these reserves vested In the Borough Council. At present the reserve of forty acres near the lake was without a governing body and being neglected, and there was a possibility that all the improvements done oil it so far would be lost. The 'Borough Council l:ad more interest in that reserve than any body in the district, and they should see that if the Governmen't did not vest it in the Council, at least it should appoint a board to govern it. The lake domain also should be put in charge of the Council. Tie considered that before matters connected with these reserves, had gone too far that proper governing bodies should be appointed.
