The Chronicle PUBLISHED DAILY. LEVIN. TUESDAY, JULY 20, 1915.

THE CORONATION CEREMONY.

Next Friday will be given in Levin a representation of the Coronation ceremony as performed at Westminister Hall at the crowning ol the kings and queens of England. Omitting the religious portion oi the ceremony, this representation faithfully follows methods of coronation peculiar to the iioUier Country, and affords a spectacular entertainment that in point of effectiveness lia« never been equalled in [New Zealand. Several Levin citizens who witnessed tlio coronation ceremony at "Wellington lust month speak of it in terms of highest appreciation. Quite apart from the intrinsic worth of the entertainment, there remains for appreciation, the object for which the coronation ceremony was undertaken: the augmentation of the fund for relief of sick and wounded soldiers. Of these we have a number returned from active service already, and a great many more, unfortunately, arc assured for us; for the war drags on and no signs of its termination are to bo seen so far. The public of New Zealand has responded generously to the appeals for funds made in the past, but the needs necessarily increase, not diminish, and 110 unnecessary slackening in endeavour should be considered. The coronation ceremony will afford residents of Levin and district vho double chance of helping a very deserving cause and at the same time receiving for their contributions an excellent return by way of entertainment. The participants in the ceremony are coining from Wellington at personal inconvenience to themselves, and they are deserving of the hearty thanks of everyone amongst us for their continued spirit of abnegation thus displayed.
