A pruning demonstration under the auspioes of the 'Horowhenua Fruitgrowers' Association, will bo given by the orchard inspector, Mr Pierce, at Mr Elack's orchard. Fairfield, shortly. A meeting of the Queen Carnival Entertainments Committee was held last night, Mr W. Hughes in the chair. There also were present Mesdanies Gardener, Lancaster, Porteous, Pink and Hislop; Messrs Porteous, Brown and Gardener (lion, secretary). Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from Messrs J. O'Donohue and E. W. J. Smith. A letter
was read from Professor Cards Con, suggesting that the date of the Coronation ceremony to be given in Levin be fixed for "Wednesday. 21«t July. This was agreed to. The committee resolved that the charges lor admission to the afternoon performance be 2s, children half price; and to the evening performance 3s and 2s. The payment of 3s will entitle patrons to reserve seats up to the day preceding the performance. As the date fixed for the drawing of the motor car lottery (Friday next) was made on the assumption that the coronation would take place on that day, it was resolved that the drawing He set forward to 21st July and take place at the end of the coronation ceremony. Further arrangements for the coronation will he made at a meeting to be held next Monday afternoon, .and at a final meeting to bo held on Friday next.
