Corporal Griffiths, or Otaki, in a letter to his father, gives an interesting description of the landing of the New Zealand soldiers at Uallipoli. Inter alia, he remarks:—"lt wae pretty hot going to Gallipoli. ,The worst part was the landing. When once we got j a good stand on the land "we got along !i very well. Of course the enemy was ji acting on the defensive all the time jand it only stands to reason fhat we must lose a good number o»r men on n> steady advance all the way.
