At Sydney yesterday Arthur -Kidman was lined £200 in connection with the forgery of tenders. The increase in dairy 'freight charges levied by the shipping companies on consignments to London was discussed at a meeting of the iSational Dairy Association held in Palmerston this week. Mr. Marx, of Mangatoki, contended that the association was :g----nored .by the companies when the freights 'were increased, and that the association should have been consulted by the companies in view of their agreement. Mr. Morton pointed out that the association did protest, Slid that the companies replied that the rise was made in London. They had arranged for deputations to visit the companies and the Government to make further representations in the matter, and added that as iar as being consulted was concerned the companies had the right to suspend the contract in time of ivar. Mr. P. Nathaii suggested that the rise in freight on cheese may have ibeen due to the wastage of apace in the crates.
