A meeting of the committee was held on Wednesday evening, Mr G. X. Stephenson in the chair. A letter was read from Mr B. H. Gardener, Mayor of Levin, asking what arrangements con Id be made for a meeting at Tokolnaru. Some discussion ensued, and it was decided tiiat th,e secretary write to the leading people of 'fokomaru asking them to attend - a meeting to be addressed by Mr Gardener. Mr E. J. "Judd mentioned tliat re were a lot of useful articles made .tho Methodist Ladies' Guild wliiclrTfoiild he at the disposal of the patriotic committee. It was considered tliat tho articles could be sold by auction at Professor Oardston's concert in the Gillandia Hall on June After transacting some further business the committee adjourned. U.A.O.D. The usual fortnightly meeting of the Shannon lodge of Druids was held in the lodge-room on Thursday evening, A.D. Bro. Wiggins presiding. It being the King's Birthday the proceedings Ave re begun by the singing of the National Anthem. Bro. Hillier >vas elected secretary in place of Bro. C. H. Gardiner. Bro. Fargher was elected to the position of A.D. and Bro. Crowthc V.A.; Bro. l'ickard, treasurer: Bro. Galloway 1.G.; Bro. Linsett, 0.G.; Bros. Scott and Blight A.D. It's; Bro. Tilling, minute secretary; Bros. Roos and Gibson, V.A. B's. The officers were duly installed l»y P.A. Bro. Tilling. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Bro. C. H. Gardiner for Jlis gift of a photo of the Grand Lodge delegates and a roll of'honor of those members who had enlisted. The stun of £1 7s was collected towards defraying expenses in connection with the Belgian Relief Fund. The election for D.P. took place, and the ballot was in favour of Bro. Hook. iiros. Fargher and Piokard were authorised to sign cheques.
