SOUTHERN GRAIa AND PRODUCE MARKETS. Christchurcii, May 20. The wheat market is much tinner on i:ec:;ii lit of a demand from Otugo and .S -u t)jland us well as froui the North Island. Southern wheat is evidently not yet in milling condition, and further supplies are therefore required from the northern districts. Practically n;> grain is offering locally from growers, and it is said that very little appears to be held in the country districts. There is some business being done by merchants and quotations of prices that would be paid to farmers were therefore lively. Tuscan is said to be worth (is 7d, Hunter's Gs Bd, and Pearl Cs lOd at country stations. Oats have made a decided advance since figures were published, showing tiiat only- a comparatively small quantity has been threshed. There are none offering by farmers, but the price now ruling is equal to 4s at country stations. Oatsheaf chaff is very lirin, in sympathy with oats, the ruling prices being £0 o« to £<j 10s at country stations according to railage. Now that the potato crop on the growers hands is mostly in the pit, the offerings are limited, and the price has advanced to £4 at country stations.
