An address is to Be given in Koputaroa schoolroom on Tuesday niglit by Mr and Mrs B. R. Gardener, in support of the Queen Carnival movement.

A meeting4>f the Ladies' Committee for the Queen Carnival is to be held this evening at 7.30 o'clock at the .Levin Borough Council Chambers. The meeting of the general committee will b< held to-morrow evening (Tuesday) at Mi.ss McKegg's rooms.
The seven-a-side football tournament held last AVednesday afternoon on the Levin park domain and the dance held' in the evening, both organised by t-lie ••sports committee of the Levin branch of the New Zealand Patriotic Society, resulted in the sum of £6 14s being added to the carnival funds.
An enthusiastic, meeting of 'Ohau residents ii as held in the hall on AVednesday night last to go into the question of supporting the Horowhenua candidate for the Queen Carnival. Mr and •Mrs Gardener came from Levin to inform the meeting about what was being done in other towns along the coast. Local committee were set up tu canvass the district for contributions of stuck and produce to be sold at auction and to give entertainments to further the cause. Mr J. McLeavey volunteered to take charge of the north end of the district; Mr Axup took Muhunoa East; Mr Thorley, Muhunoa West ami Messrs A. McLcavey and T. Rowlands the south end down to the AVaikawa river. Mis6ss Hurrell and Thomson were elected secretary and treasurer respectively of tlie fund. The entertainment committee will run a number of local dances and probably a concert pirty will proceed to Levin and five a concert and dance there, in return for one which Mrs Gardener proposes to bring to Ohau. Possibly a garden fete or some form of open-air entertainment may be arranged. In the meantime the s'le of voting tickets and hedges goes merrily on. In commenting on the badge at the meeting, Mi - Gardener said, in a deprecator\ tone that the ribbon was supposed to ho blue and silver. They had got the best silver ribbon they could. The suggestion of some graceless person at the back of the hall that it was German silver was received wii.ii silent contempt.
