♦ [By our Besident Repreaenta+i-r*.] A meeting of the committee of the Shannon Debating Society was held in the Mechanics' Institute on Tuesday niglit. It -was resolved to hold the next meeting of the Society on Tuesday evening next at the same place. The ladies of the Methodist CSiurch Guild organised a sale of work and entertainment of a novel character in the Gillandia Hall on Wednesday afternoon and evening. The hall was transformed into a Welsh fishing village, the stalk being Che boats," while ■noder of a lighthouse was conspiou(.'iis in a corner of the building. The fair was opened by the Rev. W. Rowe, ' el . Foxtail. The stalls were presided' <iver by the following- ladies: Plain ■-•■wing. Mrs Carter and Mrs Judd; fancy work, Mrs Gibson'and Mrs Mit'loll; lollie stall. Miss Newth and Mise Morgan; ft>h pond, Mr V rank Judd; refreshment stall. Mrs White, Mrs ■ Doidge, and Miss Quarrie. In the evening there was a promenade concert. I notice that amongst the wounded" at the Dardanelles was Private H. ToniTin, who will bt< remembered by :> any friends in Shannon as a genial comrade and good-heartea friend.
