It is stated tnat Air J. W. Murray's stock has been purchased by a Wellington linn. 1 have been anxiously enquiring lot intormation as to duck ehooters and their bags of game. 1 hear that three sportsmen shot (JO ducks in two days. 1 hear also that five other sportsmen shot one duck between them. Luck varies. VEX BEDE'S. The annual meeting ot parishioners of the Ven Bede's Church was held in th| lodge-room of the Druids' Hall on Tuesday evening. The Rev. C. Palmer presided, and opened the meeting with prayer. Mr W. H. Gunning read the annual report and balance-sheet which shewed that there was a small debit balance of £15 Gs lOd. The total receipts had been £193 10s Id and the expenditure £208 16s lid. The envelope system had worked well, but should be extended to more of the parishioners. The report and balance-sheet were adopted subject to audit. Mr O. H. Gardiner gave some account of the working of the envelope system which had been fairly successful, bringing in about £56 7s 3d diwing the year. The Sunday school had been maintained by an expenditure of £7 5s lid, whicli had been raised by subscriptionfrom the children and other .sources. The vicar gave a statement of the Church fabric fund which had amounted to £14 19s 7d, all of which had "been expended except 2d, for a braes alms dish, ornamental cross hangings, etc. He specially thanked Mrs Gunning, Mieses Wiekliffe. Oswin and Richards for their work in improving the Church fabrics. He referred briefly to the losk the parish had sustained by death and the departure of fieveral members from the district, but others bad come who would prove staunch and steady members of the Church. There had been thirty-two baptisms during the year. The strike and the war had tended to decrease the offertories. He thanked the Church wardens. Messrs Gunning and Tilling, for their assistance during this trying yosir. He also thanked the vestry ladies' guild, lady Church cleaners, organists, Sunday school teachers. The vicar nominated Mr Waring-Taylur a-s bis Church w<ir'len. Mr Gunning having intimated a wish to 7'etire for this year. The following officers were "elected : Parishioners' warden. Mr P. T.
