An application was received by the Levin Borough Council' a.t its meeting yesterday from iMr J. Harvey for water for a pelton wheel for power purposes ;it his workshop in Oxford-street. The application was referred to the waterworks committee. Mr Alfred William Hurst, aged BC, died at his residence at Foxton on Sunday afternoon. At Auckland yesterday a woman named Isabella Morpeth was fined £1 and costs for spreading incorrect reports of the casualties among the NewZen land troops at the front. A telegram handed in to the I'ost Office by defendant on Friday read "Commander Plugge and seven hundred Xew Zealanders killed." The message was stopped by the censor. The Levin Borough Council made the necessary arrangements at yesterday's meeting for an overdraft at the Bank of Australasia..
