FOOTBALL.

Tlie Sliannon seniors met a team from Levin on the recreation reserve on Saturday afternoon. Play began at 3.53 p.m. Levin won the toss and chose the western end, playing with the sun at their hacks. It was soon apparent that the two teams were about evenly matched, the ball being first at one end of the field and then at the other. Naera scored a try for Levin at the end of the first spell and in the opinion oP the referee scored a goal. "W. Moynihan was .successful in scoring a try for Shannon '< few minute* fcforo time was called, but failed to make the try into a goal. Thus tho game ended in a win for Levin by 5 to 3. W. Moynihan captained the Shannon, team and Haiinan acted for Levin. Mr M. Winiata was referee. HOOKEY. The fourth annual meeting of tho Sliannon Albion Hockey.. Club was hold at Mr Moynihan's Club Hotel on Friday evening last. The balance-sheet for the past year was read and adopted. Mr J. H. Fargher was elected president for ensuing year. The following other officers were elected : —

Vice-presidents, Messrs R. Tippler, T. Grentbach. J. Murray, R. Selhy. 11. W. Knowles; secretary and treasurer. Air H. Hook (re-olctod unopposed): committee, Messrs Shankland, Bovis, Graham, Tippler, Turner and Kirkland ; delegates to the |)union, Messrs Graham and Kirkland. It was resolved on tho motion of Mr Bovis, seconded by Mr Graham, in at no unfinancial member he allowed to play in preference to a financial member.

Tt was resolved that the subscription for the season he ss. and that the secretary write to tho Union Clothing Co. "Wellington, inquiring tlie prices of jerseys, and the matter be loft in.tho hands of the management committee to decide. Tt was proposed hy Mr Bovis, seconded by Mi" Graham, and uaniinou«ly carried that mrmbers gone t<) the war be considered financial until they return, and wished God-speed and a safe return.
