Sez Prim.

The manager of Rmikura State Fann (Mr Primrose McC'onnell) has resigned his position, apparently iu dudgeon over treatment accorded to State Farui methods by the Public Service Commissioners. At a picnic given in his honour at the farm this week, lie attacked the Commissioner, and asserted that "the Commissioner knew absolutely nothing about farnnng—would not know the difference between a 'swede turnip and a Cheshire cheese if he met them." The Chronicle is moved to verse by this touching simile. With apologies to the shade of Wordsworth, we paraphrase that poet's masterly condensation of a life's philosophy:— Of Cheshire cheese who sang betime Let Hodgson's book attest. Whose turnips goldenize in rhyme? Are Primrose Mac's the best? Yet Triggs's knowledge, Prim, avers Is shallow e'en as this my verse; A 'nip by Ruakura's brim A yellow turnip is to him, Its culture nothing more. —G.P.B. Levin, 3rd April, 191';.
