UJiAMiAL fUM.UIITEE .AiEETINU A general committee meeting of tin A. uutl I'. Society was held in rlu Korcstens' Hall on Saturday afternoon, Air J. lvebbeil presided. Tliu society decided that tho president (.Mr j. Da vies; sign tlia draft of Ihe proposed testimonial to Uβ presont-t-a to Mr E. Hall wlic is retiring from tlie position ol' .secretary to the Mew Zealand Council ol AgricuJtiiro and also to contribute £1 Is towards the cost ol engrossing, etc. A letter from the Hon. H. D. 8011, Minister of Internal Affairs, stated that permits would not be issued for racing in connection with agricultural shows. The Xew Zealand" Racing Conference objected to races on agricultural showgrounds its tho courses were too small and dangerous to horses and -people. Ho (Hon. H. D. Bell; was awaro that this objection did not apply to the- Lovin showgrounds, but he did nob intend to issue any nioro permits. A letter was received from Mr .J -Drysdalo, manager of the Weraroa Experimental Farm, suggesting that tho Association give prizes for the best kept dairy farm and for the best kept sheep farm. Major Burlinson considered tho idea, an excellent one. The Association should take it up at onuo. Ho moved that a sub-committee be sot up to eouand report on tho whole matter Nit the next meeting of the Association. Mr J. HowolJ soconded the motion which was carried. The following wore appointed to act on the committee:—Messrs' J. Drysdale, J. Davies. E. M. Herrick. W. F. Hecher. J. Howell and V. Davies Votes of thanks were passed to Mi J Davies and Mr J. ft. Mc/Donnld for donatiiior fat bullocks for the guessing competitions, to Messrs M. "E. Ooi" ringe. F. Davies, TV. P.atnkn. P. Gillies and D. Gardner for donating sheep for guessing competitions, to Mr F Hotter donating a piR for guessing competition, Mr J. Drysdale Tor his asei-si-r.nco given in connection with the butter-fat competition and to Major Burlinson For allowing the Boys' Training Farm bands to play at the last show. Tt was decided to gather up all the Association's hurdles on the showproline! and renioro tlieni to snfo qnai-toi-s Tt wnn mentioned by members that the hurdles were damaged if lefton the ground, while some of the pig ( ti'ough.s had been taken away altogether. An honorarium of thirty Eninons was grantetl to the secretary.. Mr R. T?: , Wallace, for his splendid work in connection with the last show. A voto of thanks to the chairman terminated the meeting.
