BUHNSIDE MARKET. Dunedin. March 24.. At ijuniside to-day ISO fat cattle were yarded, the entry comprising medium to good steers and lieif*n». The number forward was about equal to requirements of the trade, and competition wa-s firm at last week's rates. Prime bullocks £J7 12s Ixl, good £14 to £15 los, medium £11 10s to £13, light and unfinished £8 10s to £10 10s, prime heifers £10 to £12 17b (id, good £8 to £9 10s, light to medium £6-10s to £8. There was a fair yarding of fat sheep —2877 being penned. Prime wethers were in short supply, the -greater proportion of the yarding consisting of ewes, of which a fair number were extra heavy. For wethers there was a keen demand, while all medium esves were well competed for by exporters, but extra prime ewes were, if anything, slightly easier. Extra prime wethers 345, prime 26s to 28s, prime to good 22s to 245, light 17s to 20s, extra prime ewes to 29s 9d. prime 54 s to 2Cs, prime to good 21s to 23s 6d, medium 17s (3d to 19s; light and unfinished to 14s. There was a- medium yarding of. lambs —1116 coming forward. The bulk were only of the medium quality, but there were some pens of exceptionally heavy lambs. Prices for all freezing qualities were firm at la.sf week's rates but unfinished sorts were Ixard to dispose of. One small line of four lambs realised 36s 9d. March 21. At the Addington yards to-day there were moderate entries of fat stock, but there was again a very heavy yarding: of store sheep. The attendance of buyers was good. Fat lambs—A moderate entry offering including a large line of prime heavy lambs from the West Coast. which attracted considerable attention. The quality of the remainder of the

yarding was only moderate. Vealers.—The yarding of fat calvo* was an average one, all descriptions oeing represented and prices ranged from 8s to 50s for ordinary sorts, extra good animals making 90s. Fat sheep—Prime wethers 21s Gd to 24s 7d. others ICe 6d to 21e, prime ewes 20s to 25s 6d, medium los 6d to 19s b'd, others lls (id to 15s, merino wethers lls to 19s sd. Store cattle.—Yearlings 38s, 15- to 18-month sorts £2 3s to £2 15s, 2-year steers £4 ss; 2-year heifers £3 ss, 2Jyear steers £5 ss, 3-year steers £7 to £8 ss, 3-year heifers £o 5s to £5 10s. dry cows £2 to £4 los. Dairy cows made £3 10s to £10 17s 6d. Pigs.—There was a large yarding of fats and prices generally were easier Choppers made 50s to 110s: baconer.s 47s Gd to 80s, equal to sd' to 51d per lb. A" smaller yarding of store pige met with a better sale large sorts making 30s to 335, medium 25s to 28k, small 12s to 235. and weanere 4s 6d to 6s. WOOL AND SHEEPSKINS. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company reports from Wellington under date 24 th March 1915: A supplementary sale under the auspices of the Wellington Wool brokers Association was held today. The combined catalogues totalled about 2000 bales of which we offered 230 hales. There was a large attendance of buy ers including representativon of Home fidms. Dominion mills and exporters.

The wool offered included a fairly large proportion of back country lots and seedy lambs, also a few lots of light conditioned fleece, the whole of which sold in good request. We estimate that prices for fleece and good lambs are higher than February sale by lid to 2d per lb. (, ~ Orutehings were keenly competed for at from 81 to lljd: crossbred fleec-r sold at from 121 dto 16Jd; good lambs 12d to 17d; seedy lambs 7d to lljd. Sheepskins, hides and tallow were sold after the wool sale. There was a keen demand for skins and tallow, but hides .were lower by Id to 2d per lb on last sales. Skine sold at an advance of Id to 5d per lb. sale. Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd. reporthaving hold their usual monthly sale at AVaikanao on Thursday, 23rd inst., when they offered a fair yarding of sheep and a. heavy yarding of cattle The business done was good and return rates for all classes of stock were maintained.
