INDUSTRIAL ASSOCIATIONS' CONFERENCE. "" Wejfington, This Day. At a conference of representatives of Wellington, Auckland and ' Canterbury Industrial Associations held last evening a long discussion took place on the question of lack oi support for Sow Zealand industries. An amended recommendation, proposed by the Canterbury Association, regarding the appointment of a Sew Zealand Board of Trade and Industries, was approved. Owing to the apathy of the ehopkuep<?re it was decided to abandon New Zealand industries , week which was to have been held during the week 21st to 2!>th May.
ACCIDENTAL DEATH
Gore, This Day. At the inquest regarding the death of Thomas Hicks, killed on a railway crossing on Monday, a verdict was returned that death was due to accidentally colliding with the railway engine. FATAL RAILWAY ACCIDENT. / AVellingtou, This Day. While attempting to board a train at Petone this morning, a middleaged man, named William James Crawford, employed a« a blacksmith at the meat works at Ngahau.rauga. fell between two of the carriages and sustained terrible injuries from which ho died in a few minutes. He leaves a wife and four children.
THE OAMARU MYSTERY

-Mr Bartholomew. 5..M.. delivered judgmoiit this morning as the result of his enquiry into the origin of the iire at the Star and (Jarter Hotel. After a lengthy review of the evidence, he said that he was unable to make any express finding. Hi« formal vovdict was that the Star and Garter Hotel was partly destroyed by iire on the 14th February, but there was not .sufficient evidence to show how the fire, was caused. THE LATE BISHOP GRIMES. / Ohristehuicli, This Day. A very large crowd gathered at the railway station this morning when the remains of the late Bishop Grimes arrived from Sydney. The cortege left the station at eight o'clock for the Cathedral, where. Archbishop O'Shea (Wellington), Bishops Verdon (Dunedin) and Cleary (Auckland) were in waiting. The funeral casket was placed in the central aisle, and a short service was conducted by Dean Hills. The Cathedral bells were tolled at intervals and the whole ceremony was highly impressive. The lid of the casket was then removed and the congregation filed slowly past the coffin. The last funeral ritw will be solemnised to-morrow.
