4 [By our Resident Representative.] Mr C. Boss lias disposed of his residence "Marinoto" to Mr 15. Law who takes possession on April Ist. The price is said to be somewhere about Jjf)(} ;{ti ae?c, or a total of £*1000. A, scheme is on foot among some farmers on the lliakara resolve to improve the drainage ol their district. It is proposed to straighten, clean and deepen the Koputaroa creek so as to bring under cultivation several thousand acres of swampy land. It is stated that n loan ol about XlbiUO will be required for the purpose. A nbw drain which will be of much advantage to several Shannon farmers has just been completed at a cost of a little under IMiOO. It runs from Buckley to Koputaroa and straightens out. the former watercourse so as to drain the watershed of several thousand .acres of land owned by Messrs Easton and other farmers.
The Moii'toa sports in aid of the Belgian fund should attract a goodly gathering of residents of this district.
Mr J. Smith has presented a lino cup as first prize in the hunter's competition. Mr Mat boson has presented a'gold bracelet for the maiden .jumping competition. Over £10 has been promised in prizes. The sports will be held in Dr Wall's paddock and will begin' at 11.30 a.tn.
On Saturday afternoon on the Shannon bowling green Hensman. Venn. Voysev and Roach ('skip) defeated Knowles, Caiman. Gunning and Stephenson (skip) by 22 to Tl.
