The most amusing competition was the marionettes racing, under me charge of Mrs If. H. Cork. The obstinacy of the marionettes in refusing to travel the way they were wanted t>. or refusing to move at al , . pitted ujiaiYrst the determination oi those who tried to win a prize resulted in many coins finding their .va.y into the bag kept by Mrs Cork. The ultimate winner was A. Cork who >eciired Mrs Keedwell's prize. The Post Office was represented in the bun-eating competition (fastest time) consequently all the other competitors «ere hopelessly out of it. The winner was J. Snell. Mrs W. M. Clark gave the prize. The ladies' sawing competition was won by Mrs AV. M. Clark. Mrs Clark also won the ladies' nail-driving competition. Dr Davies gave the prizo for the nail driving and Mrs Broomo tile one lor the sawing. 'Die ladies' chain-stepping competition was won by Miss Kilsby. who r«ivived Mrs Gorringe's prize-, and tilt* men's chain-stepping was won by J. Ryder. Mrs H. Hall gave Ui" prize tor the latter. The men's nail-driving comp'titim for which Mrs Adkins gave the prize was won by G. Dawson and the boy's nail-driving by Frank Macintosh, who took Mrs Mackenzie's prize. The guessing competition for the weight of Master Warren Joyce's pet lamb (the lamb the prize) was won by Mrs P. AV. Goldsmith (781bs, the exact weight). The number of beans in a bottle fora goose (as the young lady in charge expressed it) was correctly guessed by Mrs C. n. Pyke. who won Miss Ryder's prize—a fine fat goose. The number of beans was lilt) and Mrs Pyke's guess was 209. The quoits competition was won by M iss Goodcr. Mrs Brooine gave the prize for this competition. The "Kaiser Bill' competition. Mrs A. Simpson giving the prize, was won by Miss Ay re. The girls' nail-driving competition I til to Myra Marryatt. Mrs \V. M Clark gave the prize for this. Tlie butterfly bunt was won by 3. Bishop with H. Thomson second. Mrs N;eio!son gave the prizes tor I his conpetition. On the croquet green several games ,vcie played, but the counter attractions were too groat and not much attention was paid to it. Sweets, button-holes and nmshrooius were sold throughout the afternoon and good trade was done, and a firsteJass afternoon tea was provided for everyone. The bands from the Boys' Training Kami were present and played severa , musical items. Aβ an instance of the keenness wih v.hich everyone worked to n-nkc the party a success, it may be mentioned that Patricia Stansell sold 4s 6d worth of button-holes on the railway station 'lelore 9 o'clock in tile morning. The gross takings amounted to over •J3() with a little more to come in. Iho sale of sweets alone came to over C 9. The expenses will be very small. Muster Warren Joyce's pet lamb aid Miss Mersey Ryder's fine young goose presented for competition have been re-donated by the winners and will be auctioned on Saturday night at the I'ost Office corner. , In connection with the bowliug the final of the ladies' champion bowling match will be played off at the bowling green on .Saturday, March 20th at 2.J0 p.m. sharp. The members of the working committee wish to thank all those who helped to make the garden party a success. Special mention should be made'Of the children's help which was •.j willingly given; oiie'boy even pre--euted his new toy pistol for competition.
