* COMING GREAT EVENT

THE CHERNIAV SKYti

Residents of Levin and district are interested in the visit of the great Russian artists, Leo, Jan, and Mischel Cherniavsky. Their talent is of most remarkable order, in trio work and alone. Their manipulation of the violin, piano and 'cello is most brilliant. The great welcome extended to them when last they visited our land is being intensified now. Their work, too. remarkable as it always was, is vastly improved. In this respect the old adage "practice make,' 1 , perfect" is exemplified, for since they left us their time has been fully occupied in giving concerts. The Cherninvskys are as popular in their lives as in their public careers. In Capetown they were lavishly enterlained by Sir Meiring Beck, one of the foremost South African musicians, and Lady Beck, with whom they stayed at their beautiful Tulbagli home. By Mrs Alexander Van der Byl, a lady who had the honour of entertaining at a house party King George of England, when he visited the Cape as the Prince of .Wales, also the Duke of Cambridge ; and Mrs Henry Cloete, of Alphen, Wynbei»g, one of the leading South African hostesses, in Europe, too, they are received in the various courts and made much of by society in general. They possess in addition to< their talent most charming dispositions and fascinating manners, and are brilliant conversationalists, taking as they do the keenest interest in all the topics of the day.

They are appearing 011 Wednesday. March 31st. in the Century Hall. Levin, and there is every reason to believe that they will liave a packed house as the enthusiasm aroused is enormous.
