Florence Young Company at Levin. A clever company' in a play of nitstaiuling merit ife a lair epitome of ast night's performance in the King's Theatre. Levin. "The Climax," in short, lia.s well-balanced parts, an anusual motif ajid a dramatic debacle. The musical numbers for the play were interpreted so well that the audience imbibed the fervour of the singers, and throughout the unfolding of the p!iy a tense interest was manifest. The part of Adelina Von Hagen was characterised by Miss Florence Young with pleasing contrasts of gladsome v.: re and dramatic grief; and these t]u :iitie.s were appropriately pre ;nt in her musical numbers also. Mr Claude Rantock, as Lingi Golfauti. was cast in a low conudy part that 111 the last scene called for acting and : Vi ■ vour. lie nas highly successful in both aspects. The character of J din Raymond, played by Mr Reginald Roberts, presents a complex picture of duplicity and love. Mr Roberts was especially successful in the lovo scene. A quaintly-drawn and wellpourtraved part was that of Pietro Golfanti, as taken by Mr Edmund Sherras. Pietro is a musical genius" who lores his art and hates the need for teach I music to a dolt, but he is iinpell® onward by circumstance and his parent | until there comes a climax. lie teaches the dolt for the last time, modi dramatically throws silver on the table, exclaiming "There's the dirty blond money!" and rushes to more congenial pursuits. From first to last the company gave a smooth and pleasing interpretation of a play that abounds in difficult situations.
