it is understood that the Hon. W. Holman and Mr Carmichael differed on the question as to whether the Hon. D. Hall was entitled to higher Cabinet rank that Mr Carmichael, the latter contending that in the event of the absence of the Hon. W. riolman, the Hon. J. H. Cann would be entitled, owing to length of service, to be Act-ing-Premier. The Hon. \V. Holmaii declined to alter the Ministerial precedence already fixed. The Caucus adjourned to enable the Hon. Mr Hoiman and Mr Carmichael to adjust the difference and allow Mr Carmichael to re-enter the Ministry. The consultation proved unsuccessful. COLONIAL SUGAR COMPANY. The Colonial Sugar Company has issued a circular setting torth the resolutions it proposes to move at a special general meeting on March 26th, empowering the directors to separate the Australian business from that outside the Commonwealth and simplify the formation of the allied company concerned in the interests of Fiji and New Zealand.
