Napier. This Day
The libel action in which Mr Vigor Brown, M.P., claimed £2000 damages from the Hawke's Bay Herald for libel contained in a letter published on the 9th December, and headed" Political Hoodlums," Has been settled out of Court, defendants making a full and ample apology and 1 paying £100 ami all Mr Brown's costs. The letter alleged that Mr Brown organised a band of hoodlums who disturbed Mr Venables's meetings and suggested that he was associated with the "Red Feds." The apology admits that the letter contained reflections on MiBrown's personal and political character and unreservedly withdraws them.
Mr Brown gives the £100 to the hospital.
