There was fighting at -Notre Dame do Lorotto all day the position being uncharged. We made further progress at Perthes and another 200 metres of trenches were captured north-east of Mesnil. A German redoubt was taken and some prisoners and three machine guns. The enemy's wonts were very strong and included armoured •supplied with revolving guns subterranean chambers. We attacked and mastered the four German lines between Four de Paris and Bolant-e. THREE STEAMERS TORPEDOED London, March 10. Th ree steamers were torpedoed and sunk on Tuesday—the J angistan, off ■Sea rborougli. with one survivor out of thirty-eight, the Blackwood off Hastings and the Princess Victoria off Liverpool, their crews being saved. The th ree steamers were sunk without warning. OFFICIAL REPORT OF PROGRESS. Petrograd, March 10. A message from Pekin states that the Japanese Ambassador has handed the Chinese Foreign Minister a Note, which is interpreted as implying that unless the Japanese demands are accepted by the 12th, force will be mployed. Although it is not accepted as an ultimatum Yuan Shih Kai conferred with Cabinet and decided co expedite settlement of demands whereto China could agree. A NEW MINISTRY IN GREECE.
