The Lieutenant-Governor's annual report on Papua .shows a revenue o"t £54,703 and a. surplus of £8,707. The exports totalled £47,233, a decrease of £15,000 on the previous year. WHEAT IN "AUSTRALIA. The Hon. E. Tudor, discussing the unwarrantable high price of bread, stated that Australia held sufficient wheat for seven months' consumption and enough seed for ten million acres. MEAT FOR THE IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT. Government proposes to buy sheep in the saleyards and sell the mutton to the Imperial Government. Hobart, This Day.
The Secretary of State lias cabled to the Government that tlie imperial Government has taken over all shipping space, except that taken by the Commonwealth. Lord Inchcapo expects that the Government will interfere as little as possible with the regular fruit trade, but the congestion in the meat trade must be relieved. WHEAT WANTED FOR SEED.
