GRAIN AND PRODUCE. Mesrs Parker and Vincent report this day :— Chaff is still extremely scarce but the cutting of now season's crop will soon be in full swing. If anything values are hardening. We quote: Subject" sales, straw chaff £4 10s s.e.; oaten sheaf £8, s.e., f.o.r. Levin. Oats—The oat market has again risen 6d per bushel during the past fortnight, making a. total advance of Is per bushel for the past four weeks. No doubt the removal of the duty on oats in Australia has been the cause of the recent rise. Wheat is very firm. latest quotations are 7s Id, f.o.b. Lyttelton. Barley is also firming. Merchants are asking 6s 4d and Cs tid, Wellington. We quote good whole barley 6s 6d. Seed barley is stationary at 6s 0d to 6s 10d. Flour.—This commodity is still ;n----creasing rapidly in price. Millers are asking to-day £17 10s f.o.b. southern ports and by the time this reaches Levin local stores are playing £18 15.s for sacks. Tt is fully expected that flour will reach £20 in the south.
