GRAND EASTER TOURNAMENT TO BE HELD IN LEVIN.

The Levin Tennis Club has suffered greatly this season through the loss of u> number of its now players who have gone to the war. In the middle of the season, too. it was reluctantly obliged to accept the resignation of Mr A. W. Richter, who has been its energetic and successful secretary for tlio last three seasons. The vacancy was filled by the election of Mr E. W. J. Smith, and under his enthusiastic direction tho Club has steadily gone forward. Tho biggest enterprise ol the year, under the official title oi the "West Coast Handicap and Championship Tournament," is the Easter series of contests 'between members of the clubs affiliated to the. N.Z. Association hetween Feilding Paekakariki, which is to bo held in Levin at EasterT This to'urnament will be held on Saturday, Monday and Tuesday, April 3rd, sth and Gtti, and promises to bring entries from Otaki, Manakau, Shannon, Foxton and Levin. Tho general public : s promised sorno first-class tennis and holiday outinfts in connection with these contests, and a largo influx ofvisitors is expected to thereby.

fcince tlio Christmas holidays there lias not been a great deal of play on th'e local courts, which have been almost deserted on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. The committee has made arrangements, however, now that the players are back froin their holidays, for a revival of tlio club gatherines. To-morrow (Satin-day) afternoon will be the men's tea day. and an •overflowing attendance is' expected >f both'ladies and men. Entries are nvited for a "Yankee" tournament o ho commenced to-morrow, and this wili be run off as rapidly as possible during the remaining weeks of the season. Entries are free and it is expected that all playing members will participate.
