Mr P. Oag and Mr \V. J. A man who was sultffing from incurable consumption got into the order and his relatives oTitainen the benefit of funeral expenses. Ho did so by getting another man to impersonate himself tor the medical examination required. The man examined by tho doctor was perfectly sound, out the man who was initiated was most remarkably unsound. In order to guard, against a repetition of such cases a. clause has lieon added to the declaration made at initi ation whereby the c«iutiirlato is required to declare that ho is tno 'individual referred to. in the vndoieal certificate. As Mr Staples and two friends were driving in a fonr-wliwlr-tl trap on Thursday afternoon one of tlio wheels came off near the recroation reserve. Mr Staplee held on well to tlfc reins ;ind his presence of mind averted any seriour consequences. The picture show was the means il adding £7 16s to the fund for asphalting the schoolground.
