AND OTHER MA'ITERS. Another deputation" from the Chamber of Commerce waited on the Horowbenua Oounty Council on Saturday in connection with the rural telephone scTiome arid soveval other matters disciissod by the Chamber ot Commerce at its last meeting. Tifie deputation consisted of Messrs J. Robertson. A. Grovor. T>. W. Matheson and H. Newport.

Mr Robertson, in explaining the object of the deputation, went over the same ground that has been ooveTed previously by deputations to the Council on the same subject. .Speaking for the Chamber of Commerce he wanted to know what the Council was doing or intended to do in regard to the, scheme.

Mr Gi-over asked the Council if it did not intend to more in the matter itself to hand over tTie data in connection with the scheme which the Chamber of Commerce collected months ago, and placed at the Council's disposal.

Mr Newport took the opportunity of drawing the Council's attention to convolves, a noxious weed, which should he. banned, nnd the necessity of cutting the Kawiii road suhwav.

Councillors BroncTboll and Rotter ngreed that the Kawiii rond subway was a work of necessity, Tint at present there was difficulty in raising \he money required for the work.

Councillors agreed that ckmvoiviiß should he added to the list of noxio.ifi we-nde; a m'otion requesting the full enforcement of the Act hnd been oarried that dav.

In regard to the telephone scheme th? chairman said that it was held up owing to the lack of funds. He had left the papers previously asked for at the Oonnefl offices.

Councillor Monk ngnin went into the matter and Raid that if the money and signatures giving Hip required guarantee were available tTio Council would go on with the scheme.

The deputation thnnked the Oonnri and withdrew.
