Four men, who were en route to tlio Wairaa Carnival, named Patrick Lynch, Leslie Short, Oliver Burke and Oscar Fuller, appeared at the S.M. Court today, charged with conspiring to defraud a native by deceit. Informant alleges tliat lie lost £100 playing draw poker with the accused on the express train between Wellington and Napier on Saturday. Prisoners were remanded for a week on bail of £100 each with two sureties of £150.
