THE PRICE OF SUGAR. Tilt' Commission in refusing the Colonial Sugar Company's application to increase the price of sugar pointed out that the Company produced 88,069 tons of sugar in New 'South Wales and Queensland, and purchased 139,801 tons for refining purposes. It therefore appears that of any increased price of sugar produced in Queensland tlio Company would receive the whole of the increase. Only one-sixth of tho cane growers in Queensland would receive any benefit from the increase in the selling price. The ovidoTicc tended to show that tho Queensland cane-growers do not receive a fair share of the profits.
