Tho newsboys' strike against the proposal of the evening papers to increase the price to 8d for twelve copies instead of fourteen, has been in operation a week. They have started boycotting the Sun, and are selling, the Evening News with the intention of forcing tho former to give way arid then attacking the Evening News. The tatter has now refused to supply the newsboys. The papers claim that tho street vendors make £5 to £12 weekly. Both sides are firm. The vendors who have the support ol the suburban agents have formed an association. The proprietors liavo issued an ultimatum fixing the price at 9d per dozen. The evening papers arc unprocurable in tho streets. HOREFLESH FOR THE HUNGARY IN EUROPE. The managing director of the firm of Pitt and Sons and Badgery has written to the Controller of Customs asking if horseflesh is exportable. He points out the great demand of meat to meet the war needs and Europe's starving thousands. Horeflesh is highly appreciated as a food 1 011. the Continent. The horij is a clean animal, and the objection to using horses as food could only be sentimental.
