THE LUNCHEON ROOMS

A meeting of ladies of Levin and district was held in the i 1 ores terns' Hall yesterday afternoon. Its purpose wa» to consider tho question of taking over the toa and luncheon rooms at the forthcoming Horowhenua A. and P. Show, and devoting the proceeds therefrom to the Belgian Relief Fund.

Mr J. Da vies, president of the A. and P. Society, occupied the chair and explained the objects of the meeting. He emphasised the amount ot work they would be undertaking ,and said, that a'l would have to help to make it a success. Ho would like to have seen a ■larger attendance. He considered that a committee of the gentlemen members of the .Society should 'be set up and attWfl to the erection of the nnirqtiiee, Mrs Krai-dener said it wanted some ono at the head ot the scheme who had a knowledge of such work. She would bo glad to assist as much as possible. Mrs Kehbell thought the attendance at the meeting was too small for those present to commit itself to the undertaking. It would be best to abandon th<? idea. She movod to that effect and Mrs ICingdon seconded it. Tho motion was carricd. Mr Davies said that in view of the small attendance the ladies had done the correct thing. Ho thanked the ladies present for their attendance. A vote of thanks to Mr Davies concluded tho meeting. A list of several people who had promised donations Of cash and provisions in the event of the idea being taken upiby the ladies was handed in by Mrs Kingdon. The Society wishes to thank those ladies who had promised to help j the scheme in this way. I Tenders will now be called by the Society for the luncheon and tea rootns.
