ULSTER AND HOME RULE. It is understood that no attempt will be made to establish a provisional Government in Ulster until the Home Rule 13ill has received the Royal Assent. GUILTY. Fenner has pleaded guilty to six counts involving the misappropriation of £66,000. (Received This Day 9.20 a.m.), London, May 26. Fenner was sentenced to four years' imprisonment. THE SUFFRAGETTES Freda Graham was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for damaging five pictures in the National Gallery. Her excuse was that it was a protest against the King not receiving the suffragette deputation. Mary Spencer received a similar sentence for the Academy outrage and several others four months for window smashing. A FOG GUN. Marconi's wireless apparatus for firing Stevenson and Moy's acetylene fog gun on isolated beacons was satisfactorily tested. The control is switched on frim the coastguard station. A fortnight's T-'upply of acetylene allows three brilliant flashes per minute with lowP reports. The "Clyde Lighthouse Trust has established a station at Gourouck. shipping. A large force ,of police and triple rails exclude public. The police are doing sentry-go outside the King's horse's (Brakespeare) stable day and night; also at Kenneymore's. A ROYAL ENGAGEMENT. Oscar, the Kaiser's fifth son, is engaged to Fraulein Bassewitz, formerly the Kaiserin's lady-in-waiting. She was dismissed when the attachment was discovered. The Kaiser is bitterly opposed to the marriage. Oscar, on Sunday, secured three days' leave from the Guards at Potsdam and went with his financee to Mecklenberg. To-day he telegraphed to the Kaiser announcing his engagement. (Received This Day,. 11.30 a.m.) THE SUFFRAGETTES. London, May 26. Amazing and pathetic scenes were witnessed at the court sessions. A suffragette, aged fifty, was a physical wreck from hunger striking. She was carried into court. Another, aged twentyfive, walked as if in a dream. A third collapsed. They were almost insensible, and the attendants constantly administered restoratives. All refused to give their names. When sentenced to four months imprisonment for window smashing they were staggered, and had to be assisted out of court. Two who were arrested at Maidavale were carried into court. They laid on chairs. One (Grace Roe) suddenly leaped up screaming and was carried out, the police holding her anus, body and legs. Nellie Hall shrieked "You devils! You beasts!" throughout,, and fought the police as if demented. She was removed in a dishevelled condition, her clothing being disarranged because of the police endeavouring to gag her. ■ Mr Bodkin, K.C., prosecuting, stated that documents secured at Maidavale included plans of ii house in Leicester, the movements of the police in the vicinity, also a description of shrapnel grenade. The police also found a quantity of highly explosive fuse. (Received This Day, 1.55 p.m.) RESERVOIR BLRSTS. New York, May 26. An irrigation dam at Hatchtown, Utah, broke owing to a landslip. The flood rushed down the Savier river valley. Telephones and horsemen warned the settlers. It is not believed that there was any loss of life, but hundreds are homeless. It is feared that another reservoir Further down the valley was also broken.
