Oil Saturday afternoon the Shannon juniors met the Levin juniors on the recreation reserve. Takarei opened up Shannon's play in fine style, which ended in Veal"." 1 scoring an unconverted try for Shannon. Give and take play followed, Baker opening up with n good forward rush which ended in V. Pope scoring the second try, which he converted himself. The whistle sounded for half time Shannon 8, Levin nil. On resuming play Takarei opened up in Mynott's style with a dashing five-eight run, wliich ended in Simpson scoring at the corner flag. The attempt at-goal was fruitless. The Levin team woke up a little too late. The local boys had things in their own way. Tommy Moynihan scored again for Shannon. The lack at goal - went wide. Tommy Veal again scored for Shannon, and the attempt at goal was again fruitless. There was no further scoring, and at the close of the match Shannon had won by 17 points to nil. Mr Mark Downes was referee. Two •>f the Levin players—Tom Tuohy and McDonald—were slightly injured during the match, and had to leave the ground, their places being filled by emergencies.
Owners of cows would do well to see that, their cattle do not stray on the railway lifte. A cow was killed near Koputaroa the other night by a passing train. It is not only the owner of the cow that suffers, besides the poor beast itself, but cattle on the line endanger the lives of the travelling public. The river is still subsiding, but the motor cars had not, on Saturday, been able to get through from Foxton. _____
