Ladies' Hockey Club Dance.

The enthusiasm kindled at th» meeting of the Ladies' Hockey Club about, a fortnight ago to raise j funds for the club rapidly spread I through the local hockey world, and culminated last evening in the most successful social gathering and dance that has been held in Levin for a very long time past. Erom the tirst the ladies and their supporters worked with a will that meant success, and the result. was that the financial troubles of the club were ended, and all it has to do now is to win the cup. There was only one oversight : the executive miscalculated the results of its own work. The music was supplied by the L.W.P. orchestra (Miss K. Williamson, Miss J. Pink and Mr G. Lester) and went with a swing that set people dancing who had not danced for some time. Even the ladies preparing' the excellent supper fell victims to it, and the plates of sandwiches and I other good things came lip out of the boxes in waltz or two-step time. (They disappeared at express rale). Extras m music were played during the evening by Mrs Fairs, Mrs Wallace, Miss Johnson and Mr L. Nation, and a song was sung by Matahira. The supper was got ready and served round by the members of the club and was first class. An apology was received from Mr and Mrs J. Robertson for non-attendance owing to a prior engagement. Messrs H. Judd and A. Dixon were M.'sC.
