EI ECXItIC TJSLEGEAPH —COP YIIIGHT. jiI'JEK PKESti ASSOtWA^ION. i A Jj'ATHEII'S CRIME. Sydney, May 14. Particulars relating to the circumstances surrounding- the Cottle tragedy, in which a young inai*ried man named Cottle killed his two little children and then so seriously injured himself that ho is not expected to live, show that on the whole the Cottles lived fairly happily. Cottle was of a jealous disposition, and had lately suffered from depression. A letter from a relative was found in his pocket upbraiding' him for his treatment of his wife. Cottle's condition is still critical. It appears that while lying in the lane, awaiting the ambulance and unable to speak, he wrote the following jerky sentences 011 scraps of paper:— "Man cut my throat - -love with wife—man kill me -fire two shots miss me—grab me—cut my child ren's throats and mine." After being taken to the hospital he raved all night about a "man with a revolver and a razor." The latter has been found in a timber yard near the scene of the tragedy.
