Hamilton, This Day

A question was asked at a meeting of the Hamilton branch of the Farmers' Union as to who will foot the bill in connection with the mobilisation of "specials" during the strike period. The secretary pointed out flint- a large number of people were looking to Hamilton as the body responsible for the accounts. Prior To mobilisation tlie secretary of the Auckland branch of the union told Hamilton to spare no expense, for if Hamilton failed Auckland would also fair. The mayor # of Auckland also said that the citizens of Auckland would be responsible. He mVdged the credit of the city to that effect. Accounts amounting to nearly £400 yet remained to bo paid.
