EVENTS IN SHANNON. (By our Resident Representative). There are two weddings coming off next, week ,and they are exciting a good deal of interest amongst the good people of Shannon. On Monday, April 6th, Aliss Bessie AlcDonald, of Aloutoa, will be married to Air Thomas Dav,v, of Whitanui. in the Presbyterian Church, at 0.-30 a.m., and the reception will be held at Nurse Kelby's at 10 a.m. The other happy event is the union in marriage of Aliss Newth, of Aloutoa, to Air Stanley Pearce, also of Aloutoa. Both arc well-known in Shannon, but the'wedding is to be celebrated in All Saints Church, Foxton, (he reception being held at the hrmestead of the bride's parents at 12.'50 p.m. v The following were chosen as oflicers of the Ladies' Hockey "Club during (lie coming season, at the Club's annual meeting which was recently held: Patron, Air Uob'.'itson, AI.H.R.: president, Mrs Davies; vice-presidents, Ales-' dames Eargher, Gibson, Laurvig, Aioynihan, Currau, Carter, Hukanui Knowles, Pickett, Richardson and Greatbach.; captain, Alice Gardiner: vice-captain, Airs Graham; coach, Air Butterworth; 'treasurer, Airs Kirkland; secretary. Air Ken. Gardiner. The colours of the club are brown and white, as formerly.

The present cold days are creating a demand for coaTs. Ladies will find a splendid range of cosy, stylish coats at Fargher and Co's., Shannon, and also one of the best selections of correct millinery. All the newest colours, shapes and mounts and plenty to select from.
