LEV IN WANDERERS ANNUAL MEETING.

The annual meeting of tho Levin Wanderers' Football Club was held in the Grand Motel yesterday evening. There were about twenty present. Mi- J. W. Proctor was in the chair. The balance-sheet for tl*o year showed a debit bain nee of 7s (id. The secretary, Mr :\. Winiata, read the annual report, which stated that at the outset of the season the team promised Avell and won a few games, Y>ut later on fell away owing to the neglect of players to practice. This led to the'loss of the shield. This state of affairs must be altered. Many blamed fhe captain, but it would sound more feasible if the blame was laid on the whole of the selection committee: it was absurd for the committee to pick a team without seeing the men practice. At the beginning of the season the club won two friendly matches: one against Kopufaroa and one against Kimberley vhie of the club players secured a place in the Maori team that toured Australia : an honour the club should appreciate. Two medals were presented by Mrs E. 0. Higgms, one for the best all-round player, tho other for the bosf forward. Tlie first waf; won by Mr Lewer, the latter by Mr Close. Mr Green's 'medal for the best forward in the Union was also won by Mr Lewer. The committee were not successful in getting a. junior team together last year. The usual "socTal" and dance proved a success financially and socially. The Club at that time presented Mrs TC. C. Higgius who was about to leave the district at- the time, with a gold bangle for her past services. The outlook for the coining season was a good one.
