Levin Stock Sales
j)ALGETY AND CO., LTD. -Messrs Dalgety and Co., .Ltd., report having held their usuai lortnightly sale in the Levin yard. ■ n Fiiday, 27th inst., when t; ottered a heavy yarding of both sheep and cattle to a good attendance of buyers. At the commencement sheep met a dragging sale, but later business improved and boiler competition resulted. Prices worn a little below late rales, no doubt accounted for by ihe t|Uality of the yarding being only medium.- Good young ewes -.old well, also first finality lambs, inferior sorts being neglected. All classes of cattle met a good market. Some good bullocks wore yarded and sold fully up to late rates. Some of the principal sales were as under:— Sheep.- Four-tooth Bomney cross ewes, 10s 9d : s.m. brooding owes, I4s 2d to 15s 4d: good 2tooth shorn wethers, 18s: store ewes, 9s 9d to lis (id; forward lambs, iris: good woolly lambs. 14s Id : medium woolly lambs, lis (id: cull lambs, 5s Od to Ts Td. Cattle.---Light fat cows, id to £7. forward empty cows, £4 4s to Cs:>store cows, £3 fis to £4 Is: light fat bullocks. £8 to £8 10s. A nice line of 3- to 3?, year steers,, on account of Messrs Sherman and Podevin, made £7 17s 0d .- 2-year steers. £4 8s to £4 LTs: heifers in calf, £5 4s: good dairy cows to £8 12s fid : vealovs, 24s to °7s: yoarlinp- heifers. £2 9s to £2 12s: empty 18-month heifers. £2 1!s fid. A good entry of bulls sold from £-°> 10s to £5 ss.
