.First prizes (3) tor apples and pears were gained at Foxton Horticultural show by Mr F. O. Smith, of Levin.
On Saturday overling Hie Levin Brass Band played several selections in Oxford-street. The band is steadily improving ;uid ilic music was appreciated by the people. A collection in aid of the funds \v,')s jakrn up and totalled 27s- an improvement, on previous ours. The FlaxmiJl Employees' •'l'nion is negotiating for th" bund's services ;il its annual picnic to bo held ;il Longburn on flin 21sf l'nst.
