The rural telephone scheme promoted by the Levin Chamber ol Commerce is making excellent headway. Already there have been secured between forty and fifty names of intending subscribers. These cover a, district ranging from Eoxton road and Shannon to Manakau South, Gladstone road to Muhnnoa. East, and Kawiu to llokio. The chamber has arranged to have a visit paid to Levin next week by Mr R. J. Pellow, electric, line engineer to the Waipawa County Council, who will make a professional tour of Levin district. The The committee has decided to have a public meeting of the chamber called for next Thursday evening, to which the public will be invited. Mr Pellow will be present at this meeting, and prepared to answer questions and give all information asked for.
It is ilie intention of the Government to wot a. now and up-to-date stool silo at illo Lovin Experimental Farm, Woraroa, and for this purpose the Government expert, will be on the form next week, when work will be commcnced. Signatures of Arapaepae road residents are now being obtained (as guarantors) 011 the list to be furnished to Levin Borough Council. 1 Cb Friday and Saturday, March 13 and 14, are the dates for the Shannon Presbyterian Ladies' Guild's Horticultural Show and Sale of Work. The show will be held in the Shannon Druids' Hall, and the not proceeds will be devoted to the Manse Funds. Further details are sot out by advertisement. in to-day's Chronicle.
Wellington Land Hoard at its meeting on Thursday dealt with some Levin matters. -Mr W. (i. Adkin applied for a variation of the boundary of 27 acres in Tlorowhenua ;> >F, IS r o. to sef-ure a practicable fencing line by including acres of Crown lands. The Board resolved io decline I lie application, and instruct Mr Adkin to adhere strictly to the lop of the ridge as boundary. .Mrs A. Anderson wrote (o the hoard stating that she would lake a tenancy of the house on section 1. block 16, Levin lownship, if she is not expected to repair the same.
