Horowhenua Fruitgrowers' Association.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the above association was held in Mr D. Smart's rooms on Friday e,veiling. Present: J. C. Neill, H. Newport, D. Smart, M. Fosella and W. Miller. Mr G. Stratford, the Government Orchard Inspector was also in attendance. Mr Newport tendered an apology for the absence of Mr Blackburn, who is indisposed. In the absence of Mr Blackburn, Mr Neill was voted to the chair. The business of the meeting was extremely light and the only correspondence received was a communication from Moritzon and Company, of Dunedin, enclosing samples of New Zealand wrapping paper, cut into parcels of one ream, each containing 2,880 sheets, each sheet measuring lOin. bylOin. The price quoted was 3s per ream for a single ream, and from scwt. to 1 ton lots 2b 9d per ream add cut ready for use. The opinion was expressed that the »price was too high. The cost of wrapping would amount to 3d per bushel, whereas it should not exceed Id. No action was taken in the matter. Saturday, the 28th inst., was fixed upon as the.day on which the association, on the invitation of the owner, will visit Mr H. Newport's orchard and nursery, Kawiu road. It was agreed that the annual visit of the Fruitgrowers' Association to the orchard at the Weraroa Experimental Farm will be held on Wednesday, .March lltli. The next meeting of the Association will be held on 13th March.
