The latest issue of the Labour Journal gives no particulars in respect to llorowhenua County. The Otaki report is missing (as usual), and no arrangements have been made by the journal for a report on Levin or Shannon trade. Appended is the Palmerston Xorth report dated Januyrj: Palmerston Xorth. Trade has been fairly brisk again during the past month, partly owing to the approaching Christmas season and partly owing to the more hopeful outlook as regards the strike. While retail trades have suffered materially owing to the trade disturbance, it is somewhat surprising to note that outside labour has still remained in full work, and that there have been fewer unemployed than usual.

Building trades.—Bricklaying good. Carpentry and joinery very busy. ' Painting fair. Plumbing and gastitting good. Stonemasonrv fair.

'Woodworking trades Boxmaking and eabinetuiaking and upholstering good. Coopering busy. Sawinillihg, wood-turning, etc., fairly busy.

Engineering trades.-- Electrical engineering very slack.

Leather trades. Bootmalcmg (repair shops) good. ('lothing trades. Dressmaking and millinery and tailoring (order) very busy, and working overtime.
