Mr W. M. Hughes attributes the wharf trouble to a handful of irresponsible extremists who are a menace to unionism, and one hundred times more dangerous than the forces of capitalism. They ilout the decisions of their own uuions readily as they do the laws of the country. Unionism, if it is to survive, must deal with them. It is hoped that the Sydney branch of the Waterside Workers' federation will realise the vital importance of the matter, and not permit itself to be shipwrecked. An aerial Derby around Sydney is being arranged, and at least four international airmen, who are now in Australia, will compete. THE HERALD'S OPINION. The Herald, reviewing the -Board of Control s says that unless the Board is approached beforcj any invitations for a foreign tour for players of international standing- are distributed, serious complications may arise. If there is a recognised authority to control lite movements of players who aspire to the honour of National representation, tlieii nothing must be tolerated that will have a tendency to reduce that authority lo the level of ab•uirditjr. SENSIBLE. I Melbourne, This Day. The stevedores, by a big majority, decided to continue work pending a further conference with the shipowners.
