Farmers and the Strike.

Levin branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union held its usual monthly meeting on Saturday. There were present Messrs John Davies (Ohau), John. Davies (Koputaroa), John Kebbell, B. Mexted, W. 1L Becher, Peter Stewart and H. J. Richards (hon. secretary). Discussion took place in reference to the late strike and the action of the Government therewith, general approval being expressed in connection therewith. , It was proposed by Mr John Davies, of Koputaroa, land seconded by Mr John Davies, of Ohau, and ; unanimously agreed to, "That the secretary be instructed to write to the Premier, the Right Hon. W. F. Massey, expressing the hearty thanks and appreciation of the action of the Government in maintaining law and order during the late strike." It was also resolved that the branch expresses its regret to hear of Mr Massey's indisposition, and trusts he will be restored to health and that he will long be spared to retain the honour recently bestowed on Mm and to lead the Government of this dominion." The branch also resolved, "That the thanks and appreciation of the farmers of this district be conveyed to the chairman of the Employers', Farmers' and Citizens' Defence Committee for the strong stand taken by the committee during -the late industrial disturbance, thus, assisting the Government in maintaining , law and order and ultimately attaining so successful an issue/ .
