The weather is fine and prospects for the holidays arc good; The chief attraction locally is the bowling tournament opening. Boxing Day. One hundred and fif-ty-bowlers arc participating. Trades people report greatly improved business in the last, few days, exceeding last year's returns. EARTHQUAKES. EUham, This Day. A sharp earthquake-shook was felt here about l.uO this morning. Blenheim, This Day. A severe shock of earthquake was felt here at 2.-3U this morning. The vibration lasted some seconds. It was the most severe for many years. No damage is reported. Inglewood, This Day. A prolonged earthquake shock •was felt here at 2.-'A) o'clock this morning. It was noi severe and no damage has been reported. Wanganui, This Day. There was a severe earthquake shock experienced here at 2.00 this morning.
