Levin theatre-goers are reminded that .Mr (Jinnies Archer's dramatic students will produce the happy-go-lucky Irish comedydrama, "Handy 'Andy" at the King's Theatre on l-riday, December 20th (Boxing night). Mr Archer brings with him a company of ten, and those who know him of old will look forward to a merry night. Of the "play, it will be sufficient to say that' the story of "Handy Andy'' was written by Samuel Lover. The amusing blunders of Andy will bo revived again in drama!ic form by the students on Boxing Night, at Levin. Mr Archer will play "Handy Andy/' Miss Maisie Clayton will appeal- as "Mad Nance," .Miss Doris Raymond as "Eanny Dawson," Miss M. Browne as "Donah Hooney" (Andy's sweetheart). They* will be supported by a strong cast. Several Irish songs and appropriate Irish music will be given during the production. The company appears at Otaki on the 27th. A big Levin audience is anticipated by the students. At the Olago Game and Bantam Show recently, much amusement was caused by the crowing competition (says the Star). One game bird in' the first ten minutes put up a. good record, but after that he stood on one leg and had a snoose.—evidently found some reason to go on strike. Mr P. Carolin's bird, who proved to be a steady goer, won the competition, crowing 22 times in the 15 minutes, with Omand and Day's bird second with 16 crows to his credit.
The County Offices, Levin, are to be closed from 23rd December to Gth .January.
